<Just in From a Tax Pro> Advance Child Credit Amount Available on IRS website Beginning July 14. Taxpayers curious about the amount of their advance child tax credit payments can go online for quick and easy answers beginning July 14, 2003. Where's My Advance Child Tax Credit? This is a new service at www.irs.gov that provides information on the amount of a taxpayer's advance child tax credit payment, the check mailing date, and any offsets to outstanding liabilities. To qualify for the advance payments, and to access personal account information via Where's My Advance Child Tax Payment?, taxpayers must have filed 2002 tax returns claiming the child tax credit. Taxpayers don't need to contact IRS to receive their advance child tax credit payments. IRS will determine their eligibility, automatically compute the amounts of their payments based on their 2002 returns, and mail their checks to their addresses of record. Because taxpayers who receive an advance payment must reduce their 2003 child tax credit by the amount of the payment, "Where's My Advance Child Tax Credit?" information will be online through December 2004. Taxpayers wanting general information about eligibility for the child tax credit and advance payments will find answers using "advance child tax credit" keyword search on www.irs.gov. Where's My Advance Child Tax Credit? is quick and easy. Taxpayers can quickly check the status of their advance child tax credit payment anytime, from anywhere. Taxpayers access information about their advance child tax credit payments by entering three personal identifiers (personal information shared only between the taxpayer and IRS:
