Advance Child Credit Amount Available on IRS website

Beginning July 14. Taxpayers curious about the amount of their advance child tax credit payments can go online for quick and easy answers beginning July 14, 2003.

Where's My Advance Child Tax Credit? This is a new service at www.irs.gov that provides information on the amount of a taxpayer's advance child tax credit payment, the check mailing date, and any offsets to outstanding liabilities.

To qualify for the advance payments, and to access personal account information via Where's My Advance Child Tax Payment?, taxpayers must have filed 2002 tax returns claiming the child tax credit.

Taxpayers don't need to contact IRS to receive their advance child tax credit payments. IRS will determine their eligibility, automatically compute the amounts of their payments based on their 2002 returns, and mail their checks to their addresses of record.
