» From San Francisco » Hello TaxMama! How do I know if my medical and dental benefits are deductible from my state taxes Mike ![]() If, on the very off chance, they are high enough to be deductible on your IRS taxes, they will also be deductible on your state taxes. But first, they need to more than 7.5% of the last line on page 1 of your Form 1040 (it's called Adjusted Gross Income or AGI). Then, it needs to be, when added to your other deductions, high enough to itemize in the first place ... that could be over about $4,000 - $7,000+ depending on your filing status. Hope this helps, Best wishes, Eva Rosenberg |
