TaxMama`s Reviews

I do very few payrolls and payroll quarterlies. And the ones I do are small - 1 to 10 people. Often, it's after-the-fact reporting.

I've had a tough time finding W-2 and 1099 preparation software that lets me file the forms electronically, without buying a full-blown, very costly write-up package.

Finally, I found a solution. Take a look at FileTaxes.com

This is a great alternative for the small practitioner.
  • I don't need to get the software.
  • I don't need to do the software updates.
  • I never have the wrong version of the software.
  • If I've updated my computer or replaced it, I don't lose the client data.
  • I have proof of filing from IRS.
  • They will take care of mailing the W-2's and 1099s to the employees (including postage)
  • They'll take care of all the W-3s, 1096s, 940s and 941s.
There will be some considerations, though. These are my questions to them, today - 11/09/00:
  • 1) What about 940s?

  • 2) What about filing W-2s and 1099s through March 31st because we have extensions?

  • 3) Will you provide the extension online?

  • 4) Will you still send out the W-2s and 1099s to employees if we process them through 3/31/01?

  • 5) What's if we do them altogether late? Will you still be here for that?

  • 6) What about amended W-2s and 1099s? Will we be able to process them here?

I have had my preparer number registered with the service center for over three years, and have been pestering CFS to add it to their W-2 and 1099 packages for about 5 years ... they keep shrugging it off.

But, they have finally added the magnetic filing feature to their payroll services!

So, for $99 you can get magnetic filing, plus $59.00 for the 940/941 After-the-fact Payroll and $79.00 for the W-2/1099 program...

Ta daa! You can spend only $237 to do W-2s and 1099's for about 50 people or less.

(Heaven forbid they should bundle the whole package for about $150.00.)

Using FileTaxes.com, for only $3.49 per form, you could do all 50 W-2s/1099s for under $175.00!

No wonder I keep looking at alternatives to CFS.
