QuickBooks is the tool TaxMama uses and recommends most often. It's a comprehensive accounting package that gives you customizable reports, lets you build a contact database, invoice customers online,... lots of great features. And it's very forgiving. So, if you make mistakes, they're really easy to fix.

Internet Tax Helper -
This is a nifty little tool, based on a spreadsheet template, to help you keep track of your business income and expenses. It's not nearly as sophisticated as QuickBooks or Peachtree. But, it costs a fraction of their price, too. And frankly, I think those people who really just can't 'get' the bookkeeping concepts will really enjoy this tool Kevin Wilke provides some help with other annoying things, like mileage and meals, too. A good buy!
